Ogasawara islands diving trip
Our adventure exploring the untouched Ogasawara islands August 2020
Not so many people know about this remote location in witch nature is in control. To arrive there it took us a journey of 24 hours by ferry from Tokyo. The ferry is not like a regular public transportation, there are many rooms with comfortable beds, showers and even restaurants.
The Chichijima island ( one of the two populated islands in the archipelago of Ogasawara) offers a very regional experience since the island is very small and there are only around 1.500 habitants . Everybody is super kind but for English speakers it can be a challenge since almost no one in the hotels, restaurants and dive shops speak any other language than Japanese.
It is possible to do various activities nature related such as scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking, with amazing sceneries and landscapes.
The Diving was what interested us the most and we can say that overcame our expectations. We swam and dove with wild dolphins and sharks everyday, beautiful coral formations and amazing visibility with water temperature during the dives ranging from 28C on the surface to 23C on the bottom.
It was an amazing journey that we highly recommend for nature and diving lovers and we cant wait to be back!

Warm regards,
